How Motor Insurance by smart works.

If you finance your smart on any of our finance products then you are obliged to take out fully comprehensive motor insurance for the duration of your agreement.

Motor Insurance by smart is specifically tailored for our smart customers and offers extensive cover and is designed to keep you safe.

Motor Insurance by smart features include:

  • 24 hours, seven days a week UK accident recovery to your nearest smart approved repairer.
  • Unlimited cover for manufacturer specification in-car audio and telecommunications equipment, fitted by the factory or Retailer.
  • If you smart is stolen or subject to total loss then a courtesy car will be provided for up to 14 days or until the settlement cheque is received depending on which is sooner.
  • 180 days cover as standard for temporary visits to most of mainland Europe (up to 3 months in one trip).
  • New car replacement within the first 12 months for the original owner if your smart is a total loss.

How First Cover works.

Once you've chosen your smart you understandably can't wait to drive it away. With First Cover from smart you don't have to wait because we offer 7 days complimentary motor insurance cover when you buy a new or used smart from a smart Retailer.

You will receive an annual quotation prior to your First Cover documentation being sent directly to your Retailer. Which means you will have everything ready when it comes to collecting your new smart.

First Cover features include:

  • Guaranteed repairs using smart GenuineParts at smart Approved Repairers
  • 24/7 UK accident recovery to your nearest Approved Repairer
  • UK call centre
  • Unlimited cover for manufacturer specification in-car audio and telecommunications equipment, fitted by the factory or Retailer
  • Your 'No Claims Bonus' is unaffected if you are involved in an accident with an uninsured driver which is not your fault

How Tyre and Alloy Insurance works.

In the event of accidentally kerbing or scuffing your tyre or alloy wheel, smart Tyre & Alloy Insurance will cover this damage, assisting you in maintaining a showroom appearance.

If your vehicle has been financed with smart, Tyre & Alloy Insurance by smart may help prevent additional charges when returning your smart at the end of your agreement.

Why choose smart Tyre and Alloy Insurance?

  • You can choose the term of your policy from 24, 36 and 48 months to complement the length of time that you plan to own your smart
  • You are covered for 5 tyre replacements and 6, 8 or 10 alloy replacements (depending on your policy term), up to your total claims limit as detailed in your policy schedule, throughout the policy duration.
  • European cover as standard
  • When making a claim, your motor insurance no claims bonus will not be affected
  • A £25 excess is payable for each claim per tyre and/alloy you make
  • The insurer will replace alloy wheels to smart specifications, with a remanufactured alloy wheel
  • When making a claim for a damaged tyre the tread depth must be above 2mm anywhere across 75% of the width of the tyre
  • Cover available for wheels up to and including 23 inch.

To make a claim simply contact us on 01279 456 507 and register your claim. Once authorised please provide the complete claims form and return to us at mercedesbenzclaims@autoprotect.net

Please include:

  • Photograph(s) of the damaged tyre(s) and/or alloy(s)
  • The policy number and vehicle details
  • Full details of the damage.

Open 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9.00am – 12.00pm.

If the claim is covered by the policy, verbal authorisation will be given to carry out the specified repair. The authorised claim will be passed to the repairer, who will contact you directly to arrange a repair/replacement appointment.
