smart has teamed up with internationally renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic to create a befitting monument to this era's turning point - which is evident not least of all in the vehicle's design - in the guise of the Final Collector's Edition. This is a special edition strictly limited to 21 vehicles, exclusively designed by Grcic and realised in cooperation with smart and Brabus. The yellow front end serves as a homage to the first-generation smart, while the rear evokes associations with soot - highlighting that this is where the engine is, this is where fuel is combusted - as a visualisation of a special outlook on life. The central theme is embodied not only in the colour design, but also in the lettering: #21 commemorates something special, the last of its kind, and for Konstantin Grcic it also symbolises much of what being 21 is all about: reinventing oneself, breaking out, boldly making one's mark and showing one's rebellious side. Konstantin Grcic is proud to have captured a piece of the history of this company which has demonstrated such innovative drive for 21 years, and is delighted to celebrate the beginning of a new era together with smart.

About Konstantin Grcic:

Konstantin Grcic (*1965) learned cabinet making at the John Makepeace School in Dorset, England, before going on to study design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since establishing his own firm, "Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design" (KGID), in Munich in 1991 he has developed furniture, products and lights for a number of leading companies in the design field. Works by Konstantin Grcic are included in the permanent collections of the world's leading design museums (including MoMA/New York, Centre Georges Pompidou/Paris). Grcic defines function in a human context and combines an austere approach to design with considerable mental acuity and humour. A profound understanding of design and architecture and a passion for technology and materials inform each one of his works. Well known for items stripped down to their essentials, Grcic is often described as 'minimalist', though he himself prefers the term 'simplicity'.

Be first. Drive electric.

Be first. Drive electric.

smart remains much more than a car - it represents the grand vision of a new form of urban mobility. The smart brand is without parallel in the way it provides automotive answers to the ever-growing urbanisation of our world and offers innovative solutions to make life in the city easier and more attractive. Right at the very outset, visionary Nicolas Hayek considered the possibility of an environment-friendly electric drive for the smart. In 2007, 100 all-electric smarts were finally delivered in London - the first of many thousands which have since been rising to the challenges of everyday life in numerous major cities throughout the world. The "electric drive", Europe's first series-production electric car, highlighted the company's innovative prowess and its courage to explore new avenues. As such, it is only a logical step to switch the entire smart range to all-electric drives.
