Variety of paint colours. With the colour combinations you can choose for your smart electric drive, the possibilities are endless – which is why one smart electric drive rarely looks like another.

Electric Drive Design Package. This optional package provides for an instantly electrifying look: the tridion safety cell with electric drive logo and the door mirror caps at the front and rear are highlighted in electric green. Body, bodypanels and the matching alloy wheels come in a black or white painted finish.

Interior. Recurrent features such as the dynamic sweep or the honeycomb pattern are typical of for smart. Extensive, fabric-upholstered surfaces create an atmosphere in which you can immediately feel at home – and that offers something a bit different.

Dashboard instrument. Shows you the battery charge status at a glance – and whether the vehicle is consuming or recuperating energy.

Instrument cluster.  Provides information about available range and the car's eco score: this is a display that helps you to maintain a consistent and efficient driving style. The instrument cluster takes the form of a 3.5-inch TFT colour display offering a wealth of additional information.

One gear is all you need. For any speed. This makes a smart electric drive extremely easy to operate. A simple push of a button activates ECO mode, offering a number of energy-saving functions – all in the interest of increased range.

Excellent road handling. The high-voltage battery is installed in the vehicle's floor for special protection. The low centre of gravity boosts driving stability and agility.

Making parking fun. The smart fortwo electric drive remained true to the smart brand. With a length of only 2.69 m and an amazingly small turning circle of just 6.95 m, the city is all yours – the tightest parking spaces included. With the electric power steering, manoeuvring into tight spaces is child's play.

Radar-based recuperation. The kinetic energy of the vehicle is used in ECO mode and the high-voltage battery is charged via recuperation as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator pedal. The radar-based recuperation goes one step further: a radar sensor monitors the traffic in front of the vehicle and automatically selects the optimum recuperation level. This improves ride comfort and ensures optimized use of the kinetic energy.

ECO mode. Added range at the push of a button: ECO mode activates a number of energy-saving functions. Maximum recuperation, reduced cooling/heating output, reduced top speed, and a flatter accelerator curve – all in the interest of extending the vehicle's range.

Heating Elements. With enhanced insulation, heated multifunction steering wheel and heated seats for driver and passenger, a pleasant interior climate is provided. These elements can also reduce the heating output for the benefit of added range – without the interior getting cold.

Energy for the city. The smart fortwo electric drive is equipped as standard with a 7.2 kW high-capacity on-board charger. To recharge your vehicle, simply connect it to a wallbox or public charging point. Charging is also possible at virtually any standard domestic power socket. The charging process takes a little longer here, however, due to the weaker current.

The charging process. To charge the battery, simply connect the charging cable to the charging station and then to your vehicle's charge socket. The connector is locked into position automatically. An LED indicator above the charge socket demonstrates that the charging process has initiated.

Optional smart Media-System. With 7-inch multi-touch display, the system is intuitive to operate and offers a wide spectrum of features. Important functions such as navigation or radio control can be operated via voice control, while USB, AUX and SD card sockets allow you to play music, pictures and films. You can use Bluetooth® to make telephone calls or to stream music without taking your hands away from the wheel.

Keeping an eye on your energy. The optional smart Media-System (included in the Touchscreen Package) offers you information on your smart electric drive's energy flow, indicating whether your vehicle is consuming or recuperating energy, for example.

High-voltage battery. The positioning of the HV battery in a robust frame set into the vehicle underbody offers the best possible protection from deformation in the event of a collision. The battery's low centre of gravity also noticeably improves handling. To ensure that occupants never come into contact with high voltage, all connectors in the high-voltage system are shock-proof. All the battery's safety functions are additionally subject to ongoing monitoring. In the event of an accident, the high-voltage elements switch themselves off.

tridion safety cell. Much in the same way that a nut is protected by its hard shell, the tridion safety cell made of 75 percent high-strength steel keeps its contents safe from harm. In conjunction with further components such as crash boxes and deformation elements, the tridion safety cell ensures maximum safety in a minimum of space.

Airbags. As well as airbags for the driver and passenger, the smart electric drive models come with a kneebag for the driver and passenger, two pelvis/thorax bags in the backrests of the driver's and passenger seats, and windowbags, which deploy over the window on the side of the vehicle affected by the impact.

Acoustic presence indicator. Electric driving is surprisingly quiet. To avoid surprising other road users, the optional acoustic presence indicator takes effect at speeds below 30 km/h. A discreet sound appropriate to the given driving situation ensures a better awareness of your vehicle's presence and improves safety for all road users.

Active Brake Assist. If there is a risk of collision, the Brake Assist system issues alerts to warn the driver. In an emergency, it will intervene actively to brake the vehicle at speeds over 30 km/h, thus helping to avoid collisions with traffic on the road ahead.
