Milan/Paris/Hambach, 05.12.2008 – The one millionth smart fortwo is embarking on a special journey: it is accompanying the three-day cycle race from Milan to Paris organised by the French myopathy association (AFM). On the 300 kilometre tour through Europe the participants and organisers want to draw attention to their commitment to fighting muscle diseases. At the end of the tour, which leads through Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France, the yellow smart fortwo mhd passion will be auctioned off during the Téléthon, a fund-raising campaign on French television.
Dr. Marcus Nicolai, CEO of smart France and head of the smart fortwo production facility in Hambach, Lorraine (Department Moselle) says "We are very pleased to support the outstanding commitment in the fight against muscle diseases by donating the one millionth smart fortwo from the Hambach plant. This is our contribution to the good cause."
The French association against myopathies (AFM) was founded in 1958 by patients and their families and supports the fight against neuromuscular diseases. It focuses on the search for new therapies and improving the everyday lives of patients.
