The smart fortwo cdi demonstrates just how economical and environmentally friendly a car can be (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km[1] 3.4, combined CO2 emissions in g/km[1] 88). However, because people have different demands on a car for the city we are also working on various alternative drive concepts.
Alternative drives from smart.
smart calls this "smart intelligent drive" and combines solutions for different needs with these technologies. For example, the micro hybrid drive technology with start/stop generator already enables petrol to be saved every time the car stops. Or you can completely do without petrol and switch to electric propulsion with the smart electric drive. smart is testing this drive in everyday use with pilot projects in London and Berlin.
